New Online Tool Allows You to Track Work and Travel Permit Wait Time
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is taking steps to simplify the application process for immigrants by expanding its myProgress tool. This tool now covers Form I-765 ("Application for Employment Authorization") and Form I-131 ("Application for Travel Document"), making it more convenient for applicants to track their application's wait time online.
The myProgress tool provides personalized estimates of wait times for significant milestones in the application process, including the final decision on the case. However, USCIS emphasizes that these estimates are based on historical data of similar cases and are not absolute guarantees. Unique processing delays may not be accounted for, leading to potential variations in actual processing times.
Currently, myProgress is already available for Form I-130 ("Petition for Alien Relative"), N-400 (naturalization application), and Form I-90 ("Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card").
To access the wait time for your application, you need to create an online account with USCIS or log in to your existing account. If you submitted your application online or linked a paper application to your online account, you will find a tab displaying the estimated wait time until a decision is made on your case. Additionally, you will see checkmarks indicating the completion of various milestones, including confirmation of USCIS receiving your application.
